About
With a background crossing boundaries between music journalism, sports journalism, graphic design, education, fiction, branding, marketing and strategy, Steve McPherson draws from a deep well of knowledge about culture, history and audience when it comes to writing.
A native of Massachusetts who settled in Minnesota in 2004, his journalism has appeared in the New York Times, the New Yorker, Grantland, Rolling Stone, Complex, Mpls St. Paul Magazine, City Pages and elsewhere. He’s taught at McNally-Smith College of Music, Hamline University and Sarah Jane’s Music School. As a musician, he’s played on stages from Los Angeles to Chicago to New York to Paris.
For the last several years, he’s worked as a Senior Creative at Minneapolis agency Zeus Jones and is currently pursuing freelance opportunities in branding, marketing and strategy. He loves to explore almost any topic and learn everything he can, then share it with collaborators to take it further.
He is married to the game and also his wife.
